VietNamNet Bridge – The International Documentary Film Festival in Vietnam celebrates its fifth anniversary with a fantastic line-up in Hanoi and HCMC this June.

This year’s focus is on Belgian films but it will also feature movies from Germany, Sweden, France, Poland, Spain, Switzerland and the U.K. in association with the National Documentary and Scientific Film Studio of Vietnam who will present the festival.

German feature The Goalgetter’s Ship examines the connection of a former professional football player to a child labor scandal in West Africa. Two French and Belgium documentary films of Rapporteurs de guerre and Bruxelles Kigali involve war issues. Meanwhile, Palme and Jean-Jacques Rousseau – Tout dire of Sweden and Switzerland are about exceptional people.

U.K filmmakers bring a discussion on the global population of yesteryear via the stories of eight tennis players.

Within the framework of the festival, a cluster of Belgium films of the ChopShots Southeast Asia Traveling Festival will be screened. ChopShots is an international festival for documentary films focusing on Southeast Asia that annually takes place in Jakarta. On June 9 selected films from Indonesia, Malaysia, Myanmar, Cambodia and the Philippines will be screened in Hanoi.

Together with Vietnamese directors, several filmmakers such as Jasna Krajinovic from Belgium, France’s Patrick Chauvel and German Heidi Specogna will come to Hanoi to introduce their works.

The festival will take place at National Studio for Documentary and Scientific Film, 465 Hoang Hoa Tham Street in Hanoi from June 5 to 14 and at Hoa Sen University, 93 Cao Thang Street in HCMC’s District 3 from June 10 to 29.

A press conference will be held on June 4 at the National Documentary and Scientific Film Studio of Vietnam with the attendance of Krajinovic and Chauvel.
