To celebrate the 70th anniversary of Hanoi’s liberation (October 10, 1954 - October 10, 2024), the "Hanoi Through My Eyes" photo exhibition opened on September 23 at the Temple of Literature, featuring 80 striking photographs.

The event is organized by Kinh te & Do Thi newspaper in collaboration with the Hanoi Elderly Photography Club and the Center for Cultural and Scientific Activities at the Temple of Literature.

Nguyen Thanh Loi, Editor-in-Chief of Kinh te & Do Thi, explained that the exhibition presents dynamic images capturing historical moments, memorable milestones, and Hanoi’s remarkable achievements since its liberation. The collection offers visitors a vivid look at Hanoi as a heroic, elegant, and culturally rich city that has embraced its role as a global hub.

The exhibition is divided into three sections: Hanoi – Heroic Capital, Hanoi on the Path of Renewal, and Hanoi Today – A City of Breakthroughs. Each section showcases significant moments in the city’s history and its rapid modernization.

Nguyen Van Phuc, President of the Hanoi Elderly Photography Club, praised the quality of the works, emphasizing that this 19th edition of the "Hanoi Through My Eyes" exhibition provides an authentic reflection of the city’s progress, from its liberation to the expansion of its administrative boundaries.

The exhibition has drawn attention from international visitors. Marita Crombie from Scotland expressed her admiration for a photo of a "hau dong" performance taken by photographer Do Thi Bich Hai.

“The photo vividly captures the essence of Vietnamese culture, which is so distinct from the West,” she remarked. "At the center are three women in colorful, elaborate costumes representing spiritual figures, surrounded by followers engaged in offerings and dance. I was particularly captivated by the lotus flower detail on the character’s garment - coincidentally, I just purchased a similar-patterned shirt as a souvenir from my memorable trip to Hanoi."

Jeanette Freudiger from Switzerland was struck by an aerial shot of the Red River, captured by photographer Pham Hung, which offered a breathtaking view of the natural beauty surrounding the capital.

The exhibition will be on display at the Temple of Literature until October 10, after which it will be relocated to Cat Linh Station in Hanoi for further public viewing.

This year’s edition of "Hanoi Through My Eyes" offers a vivid portrayal of the capital’s spirit, showcasing its history, cultural richness, and ongoing development.
