Impressive street art performances by international artists with splendid and brightly coloured costumes have stirred up the pedestrianised streets of Hanoi on September 16.

During this weekend, nearly 90 international artists from Sun World Ba Na Hills Art Troupe (under the Sun Group) will bring a festive atmosphere of an international carnival to the walking streets around Hoan Kiem Lake.

This exceptional activity is the largest street art event to be held in Hanoi. It is attended by the largest number yet of international artists. This is also the first time that the Sun World Ba Na Hills Art Troupe has brought its colorful and bustling performances to Hanoi all the way from the tourist resort of Ba Na Hills in the central coastal city of Da Nang to the audiences of the capital city.

This morning, the first performance took place in the space around the Hoan Kiem Lake, attracting the attention of thousands of spectators in spite of the heavy rain.

Starting from the intersection of Hang Khay and Ba Trieu Streets, the carnival with musicians, singers, dancers, acrobats, jugglers, fire dancers and clowns will bring vibrant music to the streets around Hoan Kiem Lake. At each stop in front of the Martyr’s Monument and King Ly Thai To Monument, the audience also enjoyed many unique fire dances, swinging round, juggling, and acrobatic performances by professional artists.

In addition, the capital's audience can also go down the street to participate in the carnival, becoming dancers to perform and exchange with international artists.

Mai Phuong, a student from the Hanoi University of Culture, said: "It is astonishing that Hanoi's pedestrian street is so vibrant with such a large scale carnival. Previously, I only had the opportunity to participate in a carnival at Ba Na Hills Da Nang, but now I feel very impressed with the show around Hoan Kiem Lake today.”

Along with his daughter watching the performances of international artists, Duc Minh (from Cau Giay district, Hanoi) said that such special international carnival not only increases the attractiveness for Hanoi’s pedestrian street, but is also a new attraction for the capital’s tourism sector if it would be organised more frequently.

In her first performance for Hanoi audiences, carnival dancer Nino shared that Hanoi walking streets around the Hoan Kiem Lake are really a great stage for the carnival. The friendly and enthusiastic reception of the capital's audiences is also a driving force for the whole delegation to serve people in the next performances.

According to the organisers, on the two days of September 16 and 17, there will be two shows per day, including the morning show from 10am to 12pm and the evening show from 7pm to 9pm.

The event is also the first in a series of exciting activities that the Hanoi People's Committee and the Sun Group are expected to hold on a regular basis in the pedestrian street around Hoan Kiem Lake, contributing to the facilitation of the urban space and diversifying travel products for Hanoi, as well as bringing more experiences for visitors when coming to the capital.
