VietNamNet Bridge - Eight out of the 20 richest stock millionaires in Vietnam are real estate developers. They hold assets higher in value than anyone else in other business fields.

 

The eight millionaires have stock assets worth VND40 billion. Meanwhile, the two richest bankers have assets of less than VND2 trillion.

The millionaire who tops the 2015 list of stock millionaires is also a real estate developer – Pham Nhat Vuong, chair of Vingroup, who has VND25.557 trillion worth of stock assets.

Pham Thu Huong, ranked third on the list, is also a real estate developer, and is deputy chair of Vingroup and wife of Pham Nhat Vuong. She has VND4.407 trillion in stock assets.

Eight out of the 20 richest stock millionaires in Vietnam are real estate developers.

Doan Nguyen Duc, chair of Hoang Anh Gia Lai, stated that his conglomerate is leaving the real estate sector and focusing on agriculture projects. 

However, real estate projects helped Duc stay as the fourth richest stock millionaire. The businessman who is believed to spend most of his time on growing rubber, sugarcane and farming cows remains rich thanks to real estate assets.

Duc now holds 347,765,533 Hoang Anh Gia Lai’s shares, worth VND3.547 trillion.

The fifth position in the top 20 stock millionaires is also a real estate developer – Pham Thuy Hang, deputy chair of Vingroup. The businesswoman holds 61,314,926 VIC shares worth VND2.943 trillion.

The seventh position belongs to Nguyen Van Dat, chair and CEO of Phat Dat Real Estate Development JSC, with VND1.666 trillion worth of PDR shares.

Phan Thu Huong, a big shareholder of Vingroup, is at the 14th position with 21,766,843 VIC shares, valued at VND1.045 trillion.

Dang Thanh Tam, who is at the 15th position, is the chair of a big infrastructure development firm Kinh Bac JSC. Tam holds shares of many companies worth VND1.01 trillion in total.

Le Thanh Thuan, a businessman who has injected money into real estate and seafood, chair and CEO of Sao Mai Group, has stock assets worth VND781 billion.

There are only two bankers on the list of 20 stock millionaires . These include Tram Trong Ngan, deputy chair of Phuong Nam Bank, who is ranked 17th. 

Ngan holds 1,220,000 PNS shares, 17,678,250 Phuong Nam Bank shares and 75,923,999 STB shares, totaling VND957 billion.

The 20th position belongs to Dang Ngoc Lan, the wife of Nguyen Duc Kien, dubbed as ‘Mogul Kien’ who was arrested some years ago and sentenced to jail for illegal business practices.

She holds 38,512.975 ACB shares worth VND736 billion.

Vietnam has few technology billionaires, but has many real estate billionaires. The stock asset value of billionaires is expected to increase in the time to come as the property market has warmed up after a hibernation period.
