VietNamNet Bridge – “Do cha” is the traditional fish catching job of farmers in the Southwestern region. They use a tool called a cha to entice and catch large volumes of fish.
Cha is made of piles of twigs covering 20-40m2 in the river and canal and appears as a “home” to fish and shrimp. Normally fishermen discharge a cha after 30-45 days to harvest the fish. They surround the cha with fishing nets, then as they dismantle the cha, they catch fish in their nets.

It takes 5-8 people one day to complete dismantling a cha of 20m2.
