VietNamNet Bridge – At night, hundreds of workers of a helmet factory in the southern province of Binh Duong were brought to hospitals for food poisoning.
Early in the morning of December 17, more than 200 workers of the Taiwan-invested Long Huei Co., Ltd., which specializes in manufacturing helmets for export, based in An Phu ward, Thuan An town, Binh Duong province, were admitted to two local hospitals for food poisoning.
Doctors said all workers were hospitalized with similar symptoms of intermittent stomachache, dizziness, vomiting and having diarrhea.
"We treated them by the treatment regimen for food poisoning. Luckily, there was no dangerous case," said Dr. Le Van Chuong of the Binh An Clinic.
Workers said that they suffered from food poisoning after the dinner at the factory. The meal was provided by a private company, with about 400 rations per day.
Workers said they took the dinner, with waky pumpkin soup, fried egg and vegetables at around 5pm on December 16. After leaving the factory at night, workers began suffering from the symptoms of food poisoning in the early morning of December 17. Their families took them to the hospital.
By noon December 17, most of workers left the hospital, except for over 20 severe cases.
