VietNamNet Bridge – Knowing that two dog thieves were in custody at the communal office, hundreds of people flocked to besiege the office, threatening to kill the thieves. The police had to use a special vehicle to take the thieves out of the blockade.

On February 20, the office of the government of Hop Ly commune, Trieu Son district, Thanh Hoa province was disturbed when hundreds of locals flocked to surround the office.

They carried sticks with them, shouted and asked the local authorities to hand over the two dog thieves.

Many men rushed into the office of the commune police department to beat the dog thieves. The situation was dangerous so the commune police had to ask for emergency intervention of the district police agency.

It was not until late afternoon, when the district police sent a specialized vehicle to the site so the two thieves could leave the location safely. Many people still followed the car for a long way.

Mr. Do Van Muoi, chief police of Hop Ly commune, said the two dog thieves were caught in the act in the early morning of the same day.

"We had a really hard time calling people to claim down but they could not restore order. Many extremists rushed into the office, asking the police to hand over the thieves. They wanted to kill the dog thieves. They surrounded and made noise. The people’s aggressiveness calmed down when the district people sent a specialized vehicle and many policemen to the site. If the authorities did not take drastic measures, the lives of the two dog thieves were threatened," he said.
