VietNamNet Bridge – Two women were killed in a fire that broke out in a house in Ha Noi’s Hai Ba Trung District in the early hours today.

The victims are 81-year-old Nguyen Thi Ngoc and her 49-year-old daughter, named Nguyen Thi Thuy.

The fire started around 2am at the 60sq.m house on Vong Street.

Tens of firefighters from the Ha Noi Department of Fire Prevention and Fighting and eight fire engines were mobilised to the scene. However, they struggled to get water to the house as it is located deep inside a small alley.

It took firefighters 1.5 hours to put out the fire.

The firefighters managed to rescue a 17-year-old girl who was stuck in the house.

The cause of the fire has not yet been identified. Investigations are underway.
