The suspect, Le Anh Tai, 25 years old, a resident of Krong Nang Town, Krong Nang District told police that on July 21, he prepared equipment to commit a burglary.

He discovered Kim Ngoc Nhan Store, a gold store in the town, had a closed door but no security guard, and climbed up on the store’s iron roof, cut through it and entered the store. After cutting power to the security camera, he pilfered many gold and silver rings, necklaces and bangles.

He would have gotten away with it too, if it hadn’t been for his pesky wife. While trying to hide his ill-gotten spoils at home, he dropped three gold bangles on the floor

Tai’s wife found the bangles and asked him where they came from, but he refused to answer. Then, the doting and unsuspecting wife on July 30 brought the bangles to Kim Ngoc Nhan Store to sell them.

The store owner recognised the stolen goods and called the police.

Tai was arrested for theft while his wife was considered guiltless as she didn’t know the goods were stolen, Colonel Hoang Xuan Thu, vice head of the District’s Police said to Nguoi Lao dong (The Labourer) newspaper.

Not exactly the Vietnamese Bonnie and Clyde, this pair.
