Colonel Tran Van Trung from the Ho Chi Minh City High Command has announced that 30 fireworks displays will take place citywide between 9:00 PM and 9:15 PM on April 30 to celebrate the 50th anniversary of Vietnam’s reunification.

Speaking at the city’s socio-economic press briefing on April 10, Colonel Trung, Chief of Politics at the High Command, detailed several key activities planned for the grand celebration of the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of the South and National Reunification (April 30, 1975 – April 30, 2025).
Among the highlighted events is a special gathering scheduled for April 28, featuring more than 300 military generals, Heroes of the People’s Armed Forces, and high-ranking leaders at the regimental level and above. These individuals are historical witnesses who participated in the liberation campaign.
In line with directives from the City Party Committee and the People’s Committee, the High Command is actively coordinating to welcome groups of war veterans returning to visit former battlefields across the city.
Colonel Trung also confirmed that the fireworks program is being designed under the advisement of the High Command. A high-altitude fireworks show is scheduled from 9:30 PM to 9:40 PM on both April 19 and April 26 at the riverside park along the Saigon River in Thu Duc City.
The grand April 30 celebration will feature 30 fireworks displays across the city from 9:00 PM to 9:15 PM, including two high-altitude shows: one near the Saigon River Tunnel in Thu Duc City and another at the Ben Duoc Martyrs Memorial Temple in Cu Chi District. The remaining 28 low-altitude displays will be conducted at various locations, several of which will be launched from barges on the river.
“Among the low-altitude firework sites, many will be staged from barges, such as near Rach Chiec Bridge, the Saigon River by Van Phuc Urban Area in Thu Duc City, and the Bach Dang Wharf area in District 1,” Colonel Trung added.
