Going to university is no longer the only choice for Vietnamese high-school graduates. Thirty two percent of students don’t intend to continue at university.

Students took their first two national high school exams in mathematics and a foreign language.

Analysts say they don’t believe the Ministry of Education and Training can prohibit private teaching unless the wage policy is adjusted and teachers’ salaries are high enough to cover their basic needs.

VietNamNet Bridge - The HCM City Party Committee has decided that private tutoring must stop at schools from the 2016-2017 academic year. Private tutoring will only be allowed at foreign language centers and non-school educational establishments.
