Head of Direction Board for Asian Beach Games appointed

PM Nguyen Tan Dung has assigned the Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism as head of the Steering Board to prepare and organize the 5th Asian Beach Games 2016 (ABG5-2016).

The event is expected to last 10 days in June 2016 in Nha Trang City, Khanh Hoa Province, Da Nang City and Binh Thuan Province.

The PM has issued Decision No.2177/QĐ-TTg about the establishment of the Steering Board to prepare and organize the ABG5-2016.

Also in Decision, the Board is responsible for establishing and approving for Plan to prepare and organize ABG5-2016 in Viet Nam.

It also helps the PM to inspect and associate with some ministerial agencies of the Government and People’s Committee in some provinces and cities to prepare for organizing the event.

The Board works with the Organization Board of the Asian Beach Games and some agencies and ministries as well as relevant localities to propose policies and measures to organize the sports festival.

Badminton has first win at World Junior Championship

The Vietnamese team on April 7 won their first matches at the 2014 World Badminton Federation World Junior Championships Team Event which opened the same day in Malaysian as part of the 2014 World Junior Championships.

The seven-member Vietnamese team easily defeated the US rivals 5-0.

They will play Slovenia on April 8. Slovenia suffered a 0-5 loss at the hand of China the previous day.

The team event will last until April 11, while the individual event will take place from April 13-18.
