This was announced by the city’s department of home affairs. The department’s report on the implementation of administrative reforms in the first six months of this year said the city’s tax department sent more than 4,080 letters to apologise for delay in conducting required procedures, ranking first in the number of letters of apology.

The health department came second with 134 letters of apology, followed by the tourism administration with 10 letters and the department of natural resources and environment with five letters.

The report also said some agencies had not seriously implemented the process of sending apology letters, such as the departments of agriculture and rural development and education and training.

Among district-level agencies, Binh Tan District’s People’s Committee sent more than 4,550 letters of apology to applicants for the late processing of their dossiers. Among these, the majority were sent by the land registration office.

Phu Nhuan District’s People’s Committee sent just one letter, the least number.

Some districts have not sent any letters of apology for their delayed work, such as Districts 7 and 9, and Binh Chanh.

The report said the agencies did not have a common standard for the letters. Each has its own form of letters.

Between June 17 and 22, the department of home affairs inspected 15 departments and district-level committees and 15 ward-level committees in the city.

The city’s People’s Committee had previously sent a document requiring these agencies to implement the process of sending of apology letters to applicants for delayed processing of their dossiers.
