Situated on Le Van Luong Street, the three-meter-wide steel bridge was frequently overwhelmed by traffic.

The bridge has been taken down to make room for a new bridge. Vehicle access has been restricted since November 25.

The new Rach Dia bridge is designed to span 318 meters, with a width of nine to 10.5 meters.

According to the Transportation Works Construction Investment Project Management Authority of HCMC, the project has affected nearly 100 households in District 7 and Nha Be District, with 100% land handed over this September.

Vehicles traveling between the two districts are advised to use alternative routes, including Le Van Luong – Nguyen Van Linh – Nguyen Huu Tho.

HCMC officially approved the plan for the new bridge construction in 2017. This July, work began on the project worth VND513 billion sourced from the state budget.

The completion date is slated for the end of 2024.
