HCM City keen to flaunt history, culture

The “Hiện vật Bảo tàng lịch sử văn hoá - Những câu chuyện chưa kể” (Untold Stories of Artefacts from Museum of History) exhibition is organised by the university’s Museum of History and Culture aiming to educate students from the National University of HCM City about the country’s history, culture, arts and lifestyle.

The exhibition includes different topics of history of the South in the first 10 centuries, southern ceramics, bronze casting, costumes and musical instruments.

The event showcases remnants of tools, vases and statutes of Gods reflecting Oc Eo Culture from 4th to 12th century, and ceramic pots and statues produced in famous ceramic centres in Vietnam like Chu Dau, Bat Trang, Bau Truc and Cu Lao Cham from the 19th century to the first half of 20th century.

On display exhibits include bronze vases, tea pots and drums as well as images on technique of tradition craft of bronze casting under Nguyen Dynasty (1802-1945).

The exhibition showcases a collection of costumes and accessories as well as traditional musical instrument from different Vietnamese ethnic minorities as well.

Ngo Thi Phuong Lan, headmaster of the university, said: “The exhibition tells many stories of history, and helps us to understand more about Vietnam’s history and culture. It also reminds us of preserving and promoting these values.”

The exhibition remains open until May 14, and later will take place at the National University’s dormitory in Thu Duc District from September 9-19.
