At the time the police stormed the club, hundreds of people were swaying in loud music, with alcohol and cigarette smoke. A total of 113 people, including 60 men, 53 women were taken to the police office for drug tests.
At the scene, the police found six tablets and one small foil pack containing a white powder, identified as drugs. They also seized 11 motorcycle and 1 car.
According to Lieutenant Colonel Nguyen Nhat Thanh, captain of the criminal police team of District 1, 21 people, including 12 men and 9 women, were tested positive for drugs. In addition, there are eight people who are suspected as criminal offenders.
The police officer said that the Diamond Club committed certain violations, which will be handled under the law.
Colonel Le Anh Tuan, the Ho Chi Minh City police agency’s spokesman, all police forces have been mobilized to fight crime, focusing on administrative inspection at entertainment facilities, particularly night clubs.
In the first month of 2013, Diamond Club is the 3rd discotheque located in the center of Ho Chi Minh City that was raided by the police. Previously, Gold Club 02 (on Ho Huan Nghiep Street) and Club 39 (on Le Duan Street, Ben Nghe Ward, District 1) were stormed.
