Ho Chi Minh City (HCMC) has announced its 10 most notable achievements for 2024, spanning politics, economics, digital transformation, urban development, and culture.
These milestones demonstrate the city’s commitment to sustainable development and align with the national directive, “HCMC for the country, the country for HCMC.”
1. General Secretary To Lam's visit to HCMC
General Secretary and President To Lam, along with senior Party and State leaders, worked with HCMC to address critical issues facing the city.
2. The spirit of unity and compassion
HCMC residents showcased their tradition of unity and generosity, reflecting the city’s reputation as a place of kindness.
3. Legislative responsiveness
The municipal People’s Council promptly enacted policies to implement national resolutions and directives into the city’s practical governance.
4. Economic recovery and innovation
The city sustained robust economic growth and launched the Fourth Industrial Revolution Center (C4IR), reinforcing its role as a hub for sustainable development.
5. Advancements in innovation, digital transformation, and governance
Notable progress was made in innovation, digital transformation, and administrative reform, marking significant achievements in public service and technology.
6. Metro Line 1 operational
HCMC commenced commercial operations of Metro Line 1 and initiated several other major infrastructure projects.

Social order-related crime decreased significantly, with higher crime detection and resolution rates.
8. Commemorative events
The city celebrated several milestones, including the 70th anniversary of the Dien Bien Phu victory, the 80th anniversary of the founding of the Vietnam People’s Army, and the 35th National Defense Day.
9. UNESCO recognition and healthcare aspirations
HCMC became a member of UNESCO’s Global Network of Learning Cities and aims to position itself as a regional hub for healthcare in ASEAN.
