They will be funded by the Government and official development assistance through investments in the form of public-private partnerships will be also considered.
According to the department, all the projects are large and complex, and will help ease traffic in the city and enhance inter-regional connectivity.
The 29 include 13 ongoing works like the widening of the Ha Noi Highway, four main roads in the Thu Thiem Urban Area, the My Thuy intersection in Thu Duc City, and a tunnel under Nguyen Van Linh and Nguyen Huu Tho streets in District 7.
It will begin work on six urgent projects this year, including the An Phu Intersection in Thu Duc City, widening of National Highway No 50 in Binh Chanh District and a new road linking Tran Quoc Hoan and Cong Hoa streets in Tan Binh District.
The others are the HCM City Green Transport Development, metro line No.2 between Ben Thanh Market in District 1 and Tham Luong Depot in District 12 and a link between the bus network and metro line No 1.
The transport sector getting investment procedures underway for 10 projects, including the Can Gio Bridge, Thu Thiem Bridge No 4, Long Binh ICD transshipment hub, a road between Vo Van Kiet Street and the HCM City-Trung Luong Express Way in Binh Chanh District, ring roads No 2, 3 and 4, and the Moc Bai-HCM City Expressway.
The department also issued a list of delayed projects and called on their developers and contractors to speed up work.
