Ho Chi Minh City will open five major traffic infrastructure projects during the upcoming April 30 holiday, commemorating the 50th anniversary of national reunification (April 30, 1975 – April 30, 2025).

The city will also begin construction and approve bidding packages for major initiatives, including the HCMC–Moc Bai Expressway and Ring Road 2.

On April 8, Luong Minh Phuc, Director of the HCMC Transportation Works Construction Investment Project Management Authority (commonly known as the HCMC Transport Authority), confirmed the schedule of traffic infrastructure openings for this month.

1. Tran Quoc Hoan – Cong Hoa connector to Terminal T3 at Tan Son Nhat Airport

This key route in Tan Binh District is over 4 km long with six lanes and a total investment of over VND 4.8 trillion (approx. USD 194 million). It includes a newly constructed overpass in front of Terminal T3.

2. Duong Quang Ham Street upgrade and expansion

Spanning 2.5 km from Binh Thanh to Go Vap District, this road has been widened to 32 meters with six lanes. Total investment is VND 2.3 trillion (approx. USD 93 million).

3. Technical opening of ramps A, D, and E of the HCMC – Long Thanh – Dau Giay Expressway interchange

This belongs to the Ring Road 3 project and will help improve connectivity between the expressway and surrounding urban areas.

4. Completion and opening of tunnel HC1 in the An Phu intersection project, Thu Duc City

The three-level An Phu interchange is a major infrastructure development with total investment exceeding VND 3.4 trillion (approx. USD 137 million). Tunnel HC1 will officially open for traffic during the April 30 holiday.

5. Phase 1 opening of the access road to the Vietnam Buddhist Academy campus in Binh Chanh District

In addition to these completed projects, the city will begin construction on three unexploded ordnance clearance packages for two critical projects: the HCMC – Moc Bai Expressway and Ring Road 2 (sections 1 and 2).

Also this month, the government will approve three sub-projects for the HCMC – Moc Bai Expressway (phase 1):

The main expressway construction via public-private partnership (PPP)

Investment in service roads, residential access routes, and overpasses

Land clearance, compensation, and resettlement for the section passing through HCMC
