VietNamNet Bridge – Vietnam’s HCM City will host the World Taekwondo Poomsae Championships in 2015, said World Taekwondo Federation president Chungwon Choue.

Chungwon has promised strong support for Vietnam and HCM City to host the event.

Experts will be sent to the country while athletes will enjoy training courses abroad to help realise their gold medal dreams at the coming Olympics in Rio in 2016.

In other news on Taekwondo, Vietnam ranked second after the first day of competition at a tournament organized for French-speaking countries in HCM City.

The host team’s athletes grabbed two gold, two silver and three bronze medals.

Those from the Ivory Coast took the lead with three golds.

The tournament, the ninth of its kind, involves 200 officials, coaches and martial artists representing 17 French-speaking nations across Europe, Africa, and Southeast Asia on June 15-16.
