VietNamNet Bridge – The People's Committee of HCM City has reserved a large land plot in the September 23 Park in District 1 to build a theatre for the city's Ballet and Symphony Orchestra (HBSO).

"If works goes smoothly and there is sufficient money, the theatre that city authorities promised us several years ago will be completed in 2015," said HBSO director Tran Vuong Thach.

For several years, the city has been considering such a location but all plans remained on paper because of a lack of funds.

Thach said that a group of architects from Germany would arrive in the city this month to work on a design for the theatre.

Founded in 1994, the HBSO gives two to four symphonic music concerts every month at the city's Opera House in District 1.

The orchestra plans to organise at least eight concerts a month when the new theatre is built, according to Thach.
