They include many key traffic infrastructure works, including the HCM City-Moc Bai Expressway and the urban railway line that requires investments of VND15.9 trillion ($688.4 trillion) and VND427 trillion ($18.4 billion).

An 8.7km road parallel to National Highway 50 will cost more than VND3.8 trillion ($164.4 million) and extension of Vo Van Kiet Boulevard from Ring Road No. 3 to the Long An Province border is budgeted at VND13.8 trillion ($597.8 million).

Others include the 9.5km elevated road No.1 through districts 1, 3, Tan Binh, Binh Thanh, and Phu Nhuan and costing VND17.5 trillion and No.5 through Thu Duc City and districts 12, Binh Tan and Hoc Mon costing VND15.4 trillion.

Twelve metro routes worth VND427.3 trillion are also in the list.

For environmental protection, waste and wastewater treatment and flooding prevention works, the city needs VND40 trillion, and it includes a domestic-waste treatment project with a capacity of 1,000 tonnes a day, a solid-waste treatment and power plant with a capacity of 2,000 tonnes a day and a waste collection and treatment system in the Tan Hoa-Lo Gom urban area.

The city also eyes housing building projects costing VND52 trillion, including the Hiep Phuoc urban area in Nha Be District and commercial centres and residential areas in the Thu Thiem New Urban Area.

Industry, trade and service, education and training, healthcare, culture, sports, and tourism projects make up the rest of the list.

The Department of Planning and Investment will publicise the 197 projects and submit them to the Ministry of Planning and Investment.
