On the first day of Ho Chi Minh City’s Traffic Police handling driver’s license examinations and renewals, the process was smooth and efficient, with no overcrowding reported.

Streamlined process at three locations

Starting March 1, Ho Chi Minh City’s Traffic Police officially began accepting applications for driver’s license examinations and renewals at three locations:

252 Ly Chinh Thang Street, Ward 9, District 3

8 Nguyen Anh Thu Street, My Tay Ward, District 12

111 Tan Son Nhi Street, Tan Son Nhi Ward, Tan Phu District

At the driver’s license processing center in Tan Son Nhi, many citizens arrived early to complete their paperwork.

Le Van Khang, a resident of Nghe An, shared that although services began at 7 a.m., he arrived early to renew his B2 license to a C1 before its expiration.

"There were about 50 people this morning, but I only had to wait an hour to complete the process. The officers were very helpful and provided clear instructions," Khang said.

Nguyen Nhu Hieu, a resident of District 3, had a similar experience. He came to renew his B2 license to a C1 and also switched his A-class paper license to a PET plastic card for convenience.

"Even though this is a newly transferred responsibility, the traffic police officers were very supportive, and the process was quick. According to my appointment slip, I’ll return in eight days to collect both licenses," Hieu said.

Seamless transition and official fees

According to Ho Chi Minh City’s Police Department, administrative procedures for driver’s license issuance and renewal remain unchanged following the transfer of responsibilities from the Ministry of Transport to the Ministry of Public Security.

Citizens can continue to apply for licenses either in person at designated centers or online through the National Public Service Portal.

The Traffic Police Department of the Ministry of Public Security has announced that, from March 1, driver’s license issuance and renewal can be done in two ways:

In-person application: 135,000 VND ($5.40) per issuance

Online application: 115,000 VND ($4.60) per issuance
