The operation, conducted in collaboration with Tan Binh District Police and other related units, resulted in the arrest and prosecution of 16 individuals on charges of "Trafficking in Persons Under 16 Years Old" and "Forgery of Official Seals and Documents."
According to the police, the trafficking ring was led by Nguyen Thi Anh Dao (42 years old, from Nghe An), Hoang Thi Nhung (30 years old, from Dong Nai), Do Thi Thuy Ngan (30 years old, from Hanoi), and Cao Thi Thu Phuong (41 years old, from Hai Duong).
The group operated under the guise of arranging adoptions but was, in reality, involved in the illegal sale of newborns across multiple provinces and cities.
Investigations revealed that the traffickers purchased newborns for prices ranging from 10 to 23 million VND per child and resold them for between 35 and 75 million VND each. To facilitate these transactions, the group forged documents related to the infants' identities.
The Criminal Police Division continues to collaborate with relevant units to expand the investigation and ensure that all individuals involved are brought to justice.
