Of the number, 85 per cent will require trained and skilled employees.

Sales will account for 18.8 per cent of the jobs, and the services sector for 12.8 per cent.

The demand for workers will be more or less uniform throughout the year.

Nguyen Van Lam, deputy director of the city Department of Labour, Invalids and Social Affairs, said international economic integration and economic growth were having a positive impact on the city's labour market.

More than 29,600 new companies were registered in the first nine months of this year, and their need for workers has been high.

It is forecast that eight sectors will see demand grow sharply: information technology-electronics, automation, food technology, e-commerce, logistics, finance-banking-insurance, tourism services-hospitality, and textile-garment-leather-footwear.

Education, healthcare and architecture and construction will also develop and need more workers in the coming years.

According to Falmi, there will be around 75,000 job vacancies in the last quarter of the year, a year-on-year increase of 7 per cent, including 30,000 in December alone.

Businesses have increased recruitment of additional and seasonal workers to complete production and meeting local and export orders at the end of this year.

The HCM City Youth Vocational Training, Career Orientation and Employment Service Centre (YES Centre) has co-ordinated with the HCM City University of Industry to organise a job fair with more than 7,000 jobs on offer.

There is also a rising demand for part-time workers in sales, services, cash, restaurants and hotels, shipping, and customer care to meet the increasing holiday demands. — VNS

Recruitment demand of Ho Chi Minh City continues to increase in May, needing about 30,000 workers, according to the city’s Resources Forecast and Labour Market Information (Falmi) Centre.
