Diverse cuisines of Vietnam and foreign countries are being introduced at the 12th Taste of the World festival, which opened at Le Van Tam Park, in District 1, Ho Chi Minh City on January 11.

Some 100 booths are arranged into various zones, including an international corner featuring dishes from Denmark, Argentina, Italy and Thailand and a Vietnamese corner with an array of standout specialties from different regions. There are also a space for street food and an entertainment corner.

Nguyen Thi Anh Hoa, Deputy Director of the municipal Department of Tourism, said that after 11 years of organisation, the event attracts 300,000-500,000 visitors every year.

She hoped that the cuisine festive space will bring the southern hub, a dynamic city in the context of global integration, closer to international friends.

Other activities held in the framework of the festival include a showcase of wax models of Vietnamese food, demonstrations of how to make Vietnamese traditional cakes and a talk show “Vietnamese Tet and delicacies”. 

The event will run through January 14.-VNA
