Chairman of Nhat Tan Ward People's Committee, Dang Huu Tien said that the upgrade work has been carried out over the past two weeks and they have had to suspend activities on the street.
"Since being reopened in May last year after a long suspension due to the Covid-19 pandemic, Trinh Cong Son Street has failed to attract many visitors," the official said. "So we decided to upgrade the street. It is expected that the upgrade work will be completed by April or May when we'll open it again with more activities and cultural events."
Launched in May 2018, the small street, named after one of Vietnam’s greatest songwriters Trinh Cong Son (1939-2001), lies on the banks of West Lake. The beautiful 900-metre-long street is surrounded by a lotus pond, a part of the lake, and lush green trees. Along with the street, the pedestrian space also contains part of Alley 431 Au Co street and Alley 612 Lac Long Quan street.
Trinh Cong Son is the third pedestrian street in the capital after Hoan Kiem Lake and the Old Quarter. The city has just opened the fourth pedestrian zone in Son Tay’s old citadel and the fifth in Tran Nhan Tong Street.
