Hien said that thanks to application of information technology and administrative reform, the average time for clinical examination at public hospitals in the city is only 21 minutes now.

Previously, in many public hospitals, patients had to wait all day to receive the test results, but now it takes only 104 minutes, Hien added.

However, Mr. Hoang Duc Hanh, Deputy Director of the Hanoi Department of Health, said that a lot of violations were detected at public hospitals.

He reviewed some scandals occurring at Hanoi’s hospitals this year, including the vaccine rake-off at the Hanoi Center for Preventive Medicine, the duplication of blood test results at the Hospital of Hoai Duc District, the Cat Tuong beauty salon case in which a doctor throwing the body of a patient to the Red River and the alcohol poisoning that killed six people.

Hanh also pointed out that patient overload is very common at all public hospitals in Hanoi, with average hospital bed occupancy rate of approximately 102 percent.
