Shane Van Boening arrives at Noi Bai International Airport on October 3.

The qualifying rounds of two international billiards competitions, the Peri ̣̣9-ball Open Championship and the Hanoi Open Championship, opened on October 2 in Hanoi.

According to the schedule, a number of domestic and foreign cueists will compete until October 4 in order to select outstanding athletes who can go on to play at the two official championships.

The Hanoi Open Championship, which will take place from October 10 to 15, welcomes 256 players from all over the world, including famous names such as Francesco Sanchez Ruiz, Shane Van Boening, Joshua Filler, and Jayson Shaw.

These world's top players arrived in Hanoi this morning (October 3) for the upcoming competition.

The winner of the competition will receive US$200,000 and have the chance to compete at the Mosconi Cup 2023 in the UK from December 6 to December 9.

The Peri ̣̣9-ball Open Championship is scheduled to take place from October 5 to October 10 at Peri Pool Arena and will attract the participation of 128 cueists, including 64 leading players who rank among the top places in the World Nine Ball Tour. The winner will bring home US$100,000. 

Many outstanding Vietnamese players will participate in the events, namely Nguyen Anh Tuan, Luong Duc Thien, Do The Kien, Pham Phuong Nam, Bui Truong An, Nguyen Phuc Long, Ngo Quang Trung, Do Hoang Quan, and Nguyen Ba Manh.

The two international billiards tournaments are to be held for the first time in Vietnam by Matchroom, Viet Content and Trading Joint Stock Company, and the Hanoi People's Committee.
