Vu Manh Doanh, a 12th-grade student at Class 12 English 1, Cohort 56 of the High School for Gifted Students, Hanoi National University of Education, has just been accepted to three world-renowned universities: Harvard, Yale, and Princeton.

The news was shared by the High School for Gifted Students, Hanoi National University of Education, on the morning of March 29.

Speaking with VietNamNet, Principal Vu Van Tien expressed his pride and joy over Doanh’s achievement, saying both he and the teachers at the school are delighted with this success.

“Manh Doanh is like the first ‘shot’ of the school’s admissions season this year. We hope that many more of our students will earn scholarships from prestigious universities around the world,” Principal Tien said.

Manh Doanh is truly an outstanding student in the English specialization track. “He not only possesses a strong academic foundation and intellectual ability but is also extremely hardworking. From secondary school to high school, Doanh has consistently demonstrated his excellence, maintaining a well-rounded and comprehensive academic profile,” Principal Tien added.

Doanh has achieved numerous accolades, including first prize in the National Excellent Student Exam in English for the academic year 2024–2025, earning the highest score nationwide; second prize in the same competition for the 2023–2024 academic year; and a gold medal in the Regional Excellence Student Competition for English for the 2023–2024 academic year.

Three years ago, during the entrance examination for high school, the former student of Cau Giay Secondary School was admitted to five specialized schools in three different academic areas. Specifically, he was accepted to the English specialization track at three schools: the High School for Gifted Students, Hanoi National University of Education; Hanoi-Amsterdam High School for the Gifted; and the Foreign Language Specialized School.

Additionally, he was admitted to the Chemistry specialization track at the High School for Gifted Students, University of Natural Sciences, and the Literature specialization track at the High School for Gifted Students, University of Social Sciences and Humanities.

As the top scorer in the English specialization entrance exam for the High School for Gifted Students, Hanoi National University of Education, Doanh chose to attend this school.

Besides excelling academically, Doanh has actively participated in various extracurricular activities, such as being part of the Content Team for "Movies for Relief," as well as projects like "The Blouse" and "The Embers of War."

Reflecting on his journey, Doanh shared, “My three years at the High School for Gifted Students, especially in Class 12 English 1, have given me invaluable experiences and opportunities. I would like to extend my gratitude to my homeroom teacher, the subject teachers, and the teachers who guided the competition teams for their dedicated support, allowing me to hone not only my specialized knowledge but also my awareness of current events, social issues, and scientific advancements.

I am grateful to the school for providing me the chance to connect with talented seniors and peers who have brought me so much joy, learning, and motivation to grow.”
