This year, Hanoi has been honored in three major categories of the annual Travelers’ Choice Awards, an international travel recognition initiated by the world’s largest travel platform, Tripadvisor.

The Travelers’ Choice Awards celebrate top destinations, accommodations, and restaurants that offer outstanding service. Winners are determined based on millions of reviews and ratings from global travelers on Tripadvisor.

In the 2025 awards, Hanoi earned prestigious rankings in three key categories:

2nd place in the Top 25 Cultural Destinations worldwide

7th place in the Top 25 Destinations worldwide

14th place in the Top 25 Most Beloved Destinations of All Time

Hanoi has been praised for its unique blend of modern vibrancy and timeless heritage. As a rapidly developing city, it retains its historic charm through its ancient sites, cultural landmarks, and rich historical legacy.

"Through the rise and fall of history, Hanoi - Vietnam’s thousand-year-old capital - has never forgotten its heroic past. Iconic sites such as the Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum and Hoa Lo Prison serve as powerful reminders of its history," Tripadvisor noted.

Vietnam absent from top food destinations

Despite these accolades, Vietnam did not make the Best Food 2025 list, which ranks the world’s best culinary destinations.

This comes as a surprise, considering that Hanoi was named the world’s top food destination in the 2024 Travelers’ Choice Awards.

The Travelers’ Choice Awards 2025 were determined based on reviews submitted by travelers worldwide on Tripadvisor between October 1, 2023, and September 30, 2024.

According to Tripadvisor, fewer than 1% of the 8 million destinations listed on its platform receive the Best of the Best recognition.
