The Việt Nam Football Federation (VFF) has engaged with Hà Nội Police about potentially starting naturalisation procedures for defender Jason Pendant Quang Vinh.
In recent seasons, the VFF has permitted clubs in the V.League 1 to register players whose parents or grandparents are Vietnamese. In 2023, Hà Nội Police successfully pursued the naturalisation of goalkeeper Filip Nguyễn, strengthening the national team for international tournaments.
To further leverage the talents of players of Vietnamese descent who can contribute to both the club and the national team, the VFF has expressed hope that Hà Nội Police will go through the naturalisation process again for Jason Quang Vinh Pendant, a French national currently playing as a left-back.
The VFF values Jason Quang Vinh Pendant's skills and emphasised that the Vietnamese-French player can make significant contributions to both the club and the national team over the long term.
Pendant joined Hà Nội Police during the transfer window before the 2024/25 season. With his technical prowess, physique and fitness, he quickly earned the trust of coach Mano Polking.
In the opening three matches of the new season, Pendant played a full 270 minutes for Hà Nội Police. He also participated in two matches during the ASEAN Club Championship.
Coach Polking praised Pendant as a talented player with excellent displays on the field. Despite facing challenges in adapting to the team's playing style, Pendant has demonstrated confidence in his game.
For his part, Pendant has expressed his desire to achieve Vietnamese citizenship gradually. He is committed to Hà Nội Police and hopes to gain the opportunity to wear the Vietnamese national team jersey. VNS
