VietNamNet Bridge - Police of Dich Vong Ward, Cau Giay District, Hanoi, have arrested a gang of illegal debt collectors who usually used "dirty bombs" (mixture of shrimp paste, lubricant oil, etc.) to threaten debtors.
The group includes six members: Do Thi Ngo (born 1942), Vu Hai Nam (born 1989), Van Cuong Truong (born 1995), Nguyen Van Tu (born 1991), Vu The Tuan (born 1992), and Hoang Van Ngoc (born 1993).
According to the complaint of Ms. Nguyen Thi Thuong, 60, in Ba Dinh District, Hanoi, she borrowed VND78 million ($3,500) without having to pay interest money, from Ms. Do Thi Ngo. Since Thuong could not pay the debt, Ngo hired the above group of debt collectors to terrorize the debtor with “dirty bombs.”
This gang of debt collectors threw "dirty bombs" in the victim's tea shop and house several times to force her to pay the debt.
On April 23, while the group of hired debt collectors and the creditor were receiving VND5 million from the debtor in a coffee shop on Nguyen Phong Sac road, the police of Cau Giay caught in the act.
The case is under investigation.
