The Standing Committee of the Hanoi Party Committee has unanimously decided to cancel all fireworks activities across all 30 districts during the celebrations of the 70th Anniversary of the Capital's Liberation.
On the afternoon of September 24, Bui Thi Minh Hoai, Secretary of the Hanoi Party Committee, chaired a meeting of the Standing Committee to discuss and provide input on the organization of activities commemorating the 70th Anniversary of the Capital's Liberation (October 10, 1954 - October 10, 2024).
At the meeting, Vu Thu Ha, Vice Chairman of the Hanoi People's Committee, reported on the deployment and preparations for the commemorative activities, particularly proposing adjustments to the events in light of the nationwide focus on aiding those severely affected by recent storms and floods.
Dinh Thi Mai, Deputy Head of the Central Propaganda Department, praised Hanoi's proactive efforts in organizing the 70th anniversary.
She noted that adjusting the commemorative activities amidst ongoing support for storm and flood victims was both timely and necessary.
Concluding the meeting, Secretary Bui Thi Minh Hoai strongly agreed with the adjustments to the anniversary activities, emphasizing that these changes reflect the spirit of solidarity and responsibility of the capital "Hanoi for the whole country, together with the whole country."
In this spirit, the Hanoi Party Committee unanimously directed the cessation of all planned fireworks activities across the 30 districts and towns during the anniversary.
The Party Affairs Committee of the Hanoi People's Committee was tasked with overseeing adjustments to each cultural and artistic event to ensure they are meaningful, innovative, and focused on public engagement and enjoyment.
Initially, Hanoi had planned to host fireworks displays at 30 locations across its districts and towns to mark the 70th anniversary. This included one major display combining high-altitude and low-altitude fireworks along with pyrotechnics, eight high-altitude combined displays, and 22 low-altitude fireworks shows.
