Nguyen Van Hoat, Vice Chairman of the council, said the meeting is scheduled to take place in early July and the results will be made public.
According to Hoat, officials subject to voting will include members of the city people’s committee, the council’s chairman and vice chairman, and heads of the council’s departments.
To date, such officials have made reports in review of their strengths and weaknesses, which have been sent to the council’s for consideration.
“The confidence votes will include three options: high confidence, confidence and low confidence, which is the same as the National Assembly’s confidence voting process. Those who receive over 50% low confidence votes for two consecutive years would face votes for dismissal,” he noted.
He added that he is optimistic about the new system and sees it as a chance for officials to review themselves. Those who receive a majority of low confidence should apply for resignation, he added.
