According to statistics released by air travel data provider OAG Aviation, the Hanoi-Ho Chi Minh City air route recorded a total of 949,246 seats sold in August, surpassing the Jakarta-Makassar route in Indonesia with 569,526 seats.

The route connecting Jakarta to Bali in Indonesia came third for providing 473,276 seats, followed by Cebu-Manila in the Philippines with 450,053 seats.

The other two Vietnamese air routes to feature on the list were Da Nang-HCM City and Da Nang-Hanoi, placing in fifth and seventh positions with 427,779 and 410,000 seats, respectively.

The top 10 busiest domestic air routes in Southeast Asia also saw the presence of Surabaya-Makassar, Jakarta-Medan, and Jakarta-Surabaya of Indonesia; as well as Davao-Manila in the Philippines.

Vietnamese airlines plan to conduct a total of 4,257 flights from August 30 to September 3 in an effort to meet increasing travel demand during the National Day holiday period, up 3.5% year on year, according to the Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam.

This figure is equivalent to an average of 840 flights per day, including 600 flights on domestic routes and 240 flights on international routes.

The number of seats for domestic routes during the reviewed period stands at an estimated 600,000, surging by 5% compared to the week before the four-day holiday and 1.5% year on year.
