Speaking with VietNamNet, Ha Van Thanh, Chairman of the Niem Son Commune People’s Committee, said the hail began at around 3 PM with stones measuring 1 to 3 centimeters in diameter.

Local authorities are currently assessing the extent of the damage. Several roofs were punctured, and farmlands were impacted.

Residents reported that the hailstorm came unexpectedly after a period of hot weather, forcing many to seek shelter in haste.

That same afternoon, the National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting issued a warning for possible hailstorms, thunderstorms, and whirlwinds in northern provinces. The phenomena were attributed to a late-season cold front interacting with a low-pressure trough, which clashed with lingering hot air masses during this transitional weather period.

Hail also damages crops in Dak Nong

Just a day earlier, on April 23, another hailstorm battered several hamlets in Nam N’Jang commune, Dak Song district, Dak Nong province, damaging crops and homes.

According to initial assessments, 23 hectares of farmland owned by nine households were affected. Strong winds accompanying the hail also damaged the roofs of two homes.

Tran Van Thuy, Chairman of the Nam N’Jang Commune People’s Committee, stated that local authorities are working to address the aftermath and have reported the incident to higher-level officials.
