All vehicles, except those sporting special parade badges, will remain prohibited from 4pm to 12pm on August 29 (for parade's rehearsal) and from 9pm of August 1 to 12am of September 2.

The streets covered under this temporary ban include Hung Vương, Le Hong Phong, Thanh Nien, a section of Thuy Khue Street running from Quan Thanh street to Van Cao Street, Phan Dinh Phung, Dien Bien Phu, Chu Van An, Hoang Dieu, Nguyen Thai Hoc, Trang Thi, Hang Khay, Trang Tien, streets around the August Revolution Square and Bach Thao Park, among others.

Trucks and coaches with more than 24 seats, but not buses, garbage trucks and vehicles with badges, will be forbidden on streets such as Ton Duc Thang, Hang Gai, Hang Bong, Ly Nam De, Hai Ba Trung, Lac Long Quan, Phan Chu Trinh, Ly Thuong Kiet, Tran Hung Dao and Le Thanh Tong.

Drivers must avoid the banned streets and can chose to take any alternative routes.

Those travelling from National Highway 5 to Highway 1B running through northern Ha Nam Province are advised to take the routes along Thanh Tri and Vinh Tuy bridges.

All police forces will be mobilised on these days to control and patrol the streets where the parade is scheduled to take place, to guard against traffic congestion and ensure traffic safety, said the municipal Traffic Police Department.

Some 35,000 people will participate in the rehearsal on August 29 and the official parade at Ba Dinh Square in Ha Noi from 7am on September 2.

In HCM City, a ceremony to mark 70th anniversary of the August Revolution (August 19, 1945) and Independence Day of Viet Nam and incense offerings will take place next Monday.

A photo exhibition on the events, a traditional cycling race and art performances will be part of the city's activities to celebrate the events.

On the same day, fireworks displays will begin at 9pm at Hon Kiem Lake, West Lake, Van Quan Lake, Thong Nhat Park, My Đinh National Stadium in Ha Noi and at the Thu Thiem tunnel crossing Sai Gon River, Dam Sen cultural park in HCM City.
