VietNamNet Bridge – The Ministry of Science and Technology will conduct a VND200 billion (over US$9.5 million) information project on nuclear power development.
Approved recently by the Prime Minister, the public relations effort will focus on nuclear power characteristics, socio-economic benefits, the necessity of nuclear power development and infrastructure building.
For the Ninh Thuan Nuclear Power Plant project, the communication programme also covers related policies concerning migration, resettlement and human resources.
The public will be provided with information relating to safety and security in nuclear power development and the nuclear fuel cycle, radioactive waste management and treatment, as well as state management and legal policy.
The Electricity of Viet Nam Group (EVN) was assigned to build and operate a Public Relations Centre for the Ninh Thuan Nuclear Power Plant project. The centre would provide timely information to localities and the nuclear power development communication programme about the safe building and operations of the plant.
The PM also asked the Vietnam News Agency, Voice of Viet Nam, Viet Nam Television, provincial broadcasting and television stations and mass media to broadcast programmes focused on the Ninh Thuan Nuclear Power Plant project and the country’s nuclear power development programme to 2030.
