Goalkeeper Dang Van Lam has said goodbye to Hai Phong Football Club to join Thailand’s Muangthong United.

Lam was contracted until the end of 2019, so Muangthong United paid more than VND10 billion (USD434,782) for the three-year contract with Lam. Lam was transferred after Vietnam were knocked out of the Asian Cup.
On his Facebook, Lam expressed his deep thanks to Haiphong FC where he played for four years.
Haiphong provided a platform for Lam to secure a place in the national squad at the AFF Suzuki Cup 2018 and recent AFC Asian Cup, he added.
He also thanked fans of Hai Phong and those of the national football team in general who had always supported Lam in matches.
The goalkeeper wished Hai Phong success in the coming V-League season.
Lam, whose father is the Vietnamese and mother is Russian, was born in Moscow. He began his career with Vietnam’s Hoang Anh Gia Lai, but after early promise he was loaned out to their sister team in Laos and his progress stalled.
He then returned to his birthplace to join teams in the lower divisions of Russian football, and in 2015 he signed for Hai Phong.
