Nguyen Minh Khanh, the owner of a car showroom in Hanoi, has a phone number that has been used for a long time as the hotline of the company. However, he has not been able to use it since pre-Tet days (January 2023) because of the lack of a phone signal.
“I have not received any notice or explanation from the mobile network operator about the interruption of service,” he said.
Three months ago, he managed to contact the operator of Gmobile to ask about the problem and was told that the network had troubles. The telecom carrier advised him not to throw the simcard away, and when the trouble was fixed, the carrier would alert him.
“My partners cannot contact me via the phone number. They thought I might have gone insolvent and I was trying to escape creditors,” he complained.
Nguyen Anh D, a VietNamNet reader from Hai Phong, complained that he has not been able to use Gmobile service since March 2023. When he accessed the website of the network operator, he read a notice about the telecom carrier’s support to 2G post-paid subscribers suffering from service interruption.
“When I called the operator, I was told that Gmobile subscribers will switch to use MobiFone and VinaPhone’s waves, so subscribers temporarily cannot contact these days,” he said. “After that, I was told to install iZOTA app to make calls and receive calls. I have to pay money to use the app, but there is no SMS service."
At present, his family members are using six Gmobile numbers. The numbers have been used to register bank accounts and social network apps such as Zalo, Facebook and Telegram, so he would face problems if he can’t use services to change passwords. Sometimes he even cannot call via iZOTA.
I tried to contact Gmobile many times and its staff admitted that they don’t know the company’s policies about the troubles. The mobile network operator still has not taken any move to support clients.
“I am not sure about my subscriber. If my simcard is lost, who will come forward and take responsibility for the loss?” he asked.
Chung Anh, a VietNamNet reader from Hoa Binh, confirmed that his account has been left idle because the phone signal was suddenly cut. He said could not contact Gmobile after many attempts.
On June 21, on its official website, Gmobile published a notice about support to 2G post-paid subscribers suffering from service interruption.
