VietNamNet Bridge – A 39m long savoury cake has been made by Yasaka-Saigon-Nha Trang hotel chefs and staff to welcome the traditional lunar New Year (Tet) festival.
Banh Tet is a kind of cake made of glutinous rice, green bean and pork and rolled in a banana leaf into a thick, log-like cylindrical shape.
Twenty chefs completed wrapping the cake weighing 860kg on February 1, and more than 100 hotel staff carried it to the Nha Trang beach for cooking.
The following day the cake was cut into small pieces to curious visitors and local people.
The proceeds will be donated to charity.
This is the longest ever Banh Tet cooked by the hotel’s chefs and staff.
Last year the hotel cooked a 38-m long Tet cake.
