Radulovic will present the exhibition’s images which were created by 32 artists from West- and East Germany in the 60’s and 70’s as well as works done by Vietnamese artists in the last few years under the theme of anti-Vietnam War.
The lecture will last about an hour, followed by a discussion moderated by Do Tuong Linh, co-founder of Six Space.
Veronika Radulovic first came to Hanoi in the early 1990s to study Vietnamese lacquer art. From 1994 to 2005, she was the first international lecturer at the Hanoi University of Fine Arts under the sponsorship of the German Academic Exchange Service.
Working in cooperation with various institutions and museums in Germany, she has served as an important link between German and Vietnamese contemporary art and curated several large exhibitions including Lacquer, Earth, Stone at the Museum für Lackkunst Münster; the Gap Vietnam Project at the House of the World Culture Berlin; the project Ryllega Berlin at the Volksbühne Berlin; and the exhibition Connect: Kunstszene Vietnam at the ifa gallery Berlin.
In 2006, she published her book Sicherheitsabstand (Safe Distance) Vietnam. Kunst (Art). Politik (Politic). Freundschaften (Friendship). The book is a personal account of the development of contemporary art in Vietnam from the early 1990s to 2006.
In 2010 and 2011, in cooperation with the Goethe Institut Hanoi and with the support from the Berlin Senate, she initiated and conducted with Andreas Schmid an Open Academy in Hanoi, Hue and Ho Chi Minh City.
Due to her many years of teaching and her extensive activities in Vietnam, she is considered one of the most important pioneers in the development of the contemporary art scene in Vietnam. Currently she is working with Annette Bhagwati on a publication about four Vietnamese pioneers of contemporary art.
