Cu said he received that good information from Colonel Nguyen Huyen, the assistant to General Vo Nguyen Giap on the morning of May 7.
General Cu is one of the witnesses of the Dien Bien Phu campaign, a former soldier directly under the command of General Vo Nguyen Giap.
He is closer to General Vo Nguyen Giap because General Giap’s wife - Mrs. Dang Bich Ha and his wife are sisters.
“Mr. Huyen (Col. Nguyen Huyen) just called me to say: This morning, the office of General Vo Nguyen Giap went to the hospital to visit and congratulate the General on the occasion of the anniversary of Dien Bien Phu victory. The health of the general is very good. Hearing the congratulations, the General shook hands with all visitors. He was very pleased," said General Cu.
