The Vietnamese-Chinese friendship, nurtured over the decades by President Ho Chi Minh and Chairman Mao Zedong along with generations of leaders from both countries, remains a valuable shared asset of the two peoples. It continues to serve as a stabilizing force in the development of the traditional Vietnam-China friendship, bringing tangible benefits to both nations.
The long-standing bond between the two countries, often described as “comrades and brothers,” was profoundly reflected in this solemn tribute to President Ho Chi Minh.
Speaking with VietNamNet, Nguyen Vinh Quang, Vice President of the Vietnam - China Friendship Association, shared that President Ho Chi Minh had spent many years engaged in revolutionary activities in China. "When visiting China, if you ask people what comes to mind when they think of Vietnam, many will say 'President Ho Chi Minh.' His name still evokes admiration and warmth among the Chinese people," he noted.
Currently, there are around 70 historical sites in China associated with President Ho Chi Minh, several of which are designated as Ho Chi Minh Museums.
Vietnam and China have jointly organized exhibitions honoring President Ho Chi Minh on national holidays and special commemorative events.
In China, there are numerous scholars devoted to studying Ho Chi Minh, often referred to as "Ho Chi Minh scholars." One notable figure is Professor Huang Zheng, former Vice President of the Guangxi Academy of Social Sciences, who dedicated his life to researching Ho Chi Minh. He traveled across China in search of related historical traces and authored several works on the Vietnamese leader.
Another renowned scholar, Professor Wen Zhuang, served as an interpreter for President Ho Chi Minh during his interactions with Chinese experts in the 1950s. He later worked at the Chinese Embassy in Hanoi and held many personal memories of the Vietnamese leader.
“Before his death in 2013, Professor Wen often told me, ‘In the years I have left, I live with Ho Chi Minh, and I live for Ho Chi Minh. If I cannot leave something for my descendants about him, I won’t be able to rest in peace,’” Quang recalled. In 2009, Professor Wen published a book titled President Ho Chi Minh in My Heart.
