General Do Ba Ty, Chief of the General Staff of the Vietnam People’s Army and Deputy Defence Minister has been nominated for the post of National Assembly (NA) Vice Chairman.

On April 4, Newly elected NA Chairwoman Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan on behalf of the NA Standing Committee presented a list of nominees to the positions as NA Vice Chairmen and members of the NA Standing Committee.

Accordingly, General Do Ba Ty, Chief of the General Staff of the Vietnam People’s Army and Deputy Defence Minister, and Phung Quoc Hien who was relieved from the post of Chairman of the NA Committee for Financial and Budgetary Affairs were nominated for the post of Vice NA Chairmen.

Legislators will mull over the election of the two above-mentioned officials as Vice NA Chairmen to replace Madame NguyenThi Kim Ngan and Mr Huynh Ngoc Son.

The same day, the NA is set to conduct a secret ballot on the election of positions as Vice NA Chairpersons and members of the NA Standing Committee.
