A number of betting rings with the scale of tens of billions of dong have been discovered.

Da Lat Police joined forces with PA05 Lam Dong Police to dismantle a football betting group with total value of VND34 billion.

The case was found on November 23 when football matches were taking place, The police came and caught nine suspects gambling by writing down bets in cash at the house of Huynh Ngoc Quang at No 29 Thien Thanh, Ward 4 in Da Lat city. During the investigation, the policy detained 13 suspects.

In early November, Ha Tinh provincial police discovered a gambling ring under the form of football betting with professional and sophisticated tricks.

On October 17, after collecting enough proof, Lieutenant Colonel Nguyen Hong Phong, director of the provincial Police, directly commanded units to join forces with the Quang Binh and Quang Tri Police, and professional departments of the Ministry of Public Security to carry out a mission.

As many as 120 officers were used to form 20 teams to arrest 20 subjects at many different places in the three provinces.

The Ha Tinh Police discovered that ag.bong88.com was a website instigated by Tran Quang Nam, born in 1986, from Le Thuy district of Quang Binh province. They had worked with people from many other cities and provinces to operate.

Nam used an account at the super-agent level to organize gambling and gambled at a particularly large scale. The organizational structure was tight, and has operated across provinces since 2020.

The total amount of gambled money in the ring from the day it began operation until it was discovered reached VND6 trillion.

However, the largest betting ring ever discovered was the one betting online with points in HCM City and Dong Nai.

On November 21-22, HCM City Police and Criminal Police Department searched 14 locations, including eight in HCM City. It was estimated that the total amount of money of the betting ring was up to VND30 trillion.

The police released a decision on detaining 12 subjects of the ring.

In addition to large gambling rings, many medium and small betting rings occur on streets, in residential quarters, and many other places. TV stations have reported that many sophisticated cases have been found in Bac Ninh, Da Nang, Can Tho and Hue.

Cu M’gar Police in Dak Lak arrested two gambling groups doing football betting at a scale of VND50 million per day.

On November 26, Nha Trang Police arrested Nguyen Cong Thang, 31, and Phan Nhat Phi, 31, on gambling charges.
