These institutions include Hanoi University of Science and Technology, Ho Chi Minh City University of Science and Technology - Ho Chi Minh City National University, Da Nang University of Science and Technology, and Hanoi University of Civil Engineering.
The accreditation is valid from 2024 to 2029, affirming their excellence in research training.
In 2017, these universities were the first in Vietnam to receive HCERES accreditation for five years, which was extended until the end of 2023.
Preparing for re-accreditation, the institutions developed self-assessment reports aligned with the new HCERES standards, encompassing governance and administration, scientific research and innovation policy, and education policy, along with learners and the learning environment.
Deputy Minister of Education and Training Hoang Minh Son, present at the ceremony, commended the universities for their continuous efforts. He noted that the accreditation reflects not only their adherence to international standards in management, learner support, and scientific research but also their commitment to further enhancing quality and efficiency in education and societal service.
“Receiving accreditation certificates not only proves that higher education institutions have achieved standards in terms of management organization, support for learners, scientific research activities, training, but also is a step to continue improving quality, improving the management and operation system, restructuring, improving the quality of support for learners... towards improving the quality and effectiveness of training and serving society," Deputy Minister Hoang Minh Son stated.
Deputy Minister Son expressed hopes for increased cooperation among higher education institutions to achieve international quality, especially in technology and engineering fields, to better serve national development.
HCERES is a renowned accreditation body recognized by the European Association for Quality Assurance in Higher Education (ENQA) and the Standards and Guidelines for Quality Assurance (ESG) in the European Higher Education System (EHEA).
It evaluates and accredits numerous training and research institutions globally, with an annual assessment average of 50 training institutions, 630 research units, 600 undergraduate programs, 300 master’s programs, and 70 doctoral programs.
Since 2017, HCERES has assessed and accredited the quality of education at six Vietnamese universities, including Hanoi University of Science and Technology, Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology, Da Nang University of Technology, Hanoi University of Civil Engineering, Hanoi University of Science and Technology, and Ton Duc Thang University.
