A fire at Mong Cai International Border Gate in Quang Ninh has left four people with burns, including one customs officer from Mong Cai Customs Sub-Department.

Mong Cai City’s People’s Committee provided initial details of the incident, which occurred on the morning of March 5.

According to reports, the fire broke out at 8:15 AM in the customs inspection and monitoring area for incoming luggage and goods at the Mong Cai International Border Gate.

At that time, a Vietnamese citizen carrying a backpack containing coiled materials was undergoing immigration procedures.

As the individual reached the baggage inspection area, the backpack suddenly caught fire, causing burns to four people - one customs officer from Mong Cai Customs Sub-Department and three other Vietnamese citizens.

Emergency response teams at the border gate quickly rescued the injured, secured assets, and extinguished the fire.

Authorities take action

Mong Cai City officials and the Quang Ninh Provincial Border Guard Command immediately arrived at the scene to direct recovery efforts.

They worked to stabilize the situation, manage traffic flow, and ensure regular border crossing activities continued without disruption.

At present, the Mong Cai International Border Gate Border Guard Station is coordinating with relevant agencies to investigate the cause of the fire and determine further actions.
