On February 9, the Hoa Hiep Nam Border Guard Station (Phu Yen Border Guard Command) successfully towed a foreign fishing vessel to shore and ensured the safe rescue of four crew members stranded at sea.
Earlier, on February 8, the Hoa Hiep Nam Border Guard Station received a report from Truong Van Loc (born in 1992, residing in Phu Lac, Hoa Hiep Nam Ward, Dong Hoa Town) about a foreign fishing boat with the identification number JYNCAY NO7 drifting into the waters off My Hoa (Hoa Hiep Bac Ward, Dong Hoa Town). Four crew members were onboard.
The Hoa Hiep Nam Border Guard Station deployed 12 officers and soldiers in coordination with local authorities to tow the vessel safely to shore and provide initial medical care for the crew members.
Upon inspection, the vessel was identified as a Taiwanese (China) fishing boat, measuring 22 meters in length with a capacity of 450 CV, operating as a trawler.
There were four crew members aboard, including three Taiwanese nationals and one Vietnamese crewman named Luu Van B. (born in 1982, residing in Tan Ky, Nghe An).
The vessel had departed from Taiwan and suffered engine failure on February 6 in the waters near Ly Son before drifting into the Phu Yen sea area.
